Traffic Signals

The City of Cape Town’s road network makes use of more than 1 500 signalised intersections that enhance safety for pedestrians and motorists making use of the road network, while contributing to the efficient flow of traffic. All traffic lights in the City use light emitting diode (LED) technology that allows for increased operational efficiency and a 98% operational record – the best in the country.

Motorists and pedestrians can report faulty traffic lights by calling the 24-hour traffic signal fault call centre. Each signalised intersection has an identification number fitted to it and displayed on its control box. Take note of this number and provide it when reporting a fault.
